It is precisely in St. Mary’s Church in Jajce where the last Bosnian King – Stjepan Tomašević was crowned with the papal crown, which was the first act of international recognition of Kingdom of Bosnia.
The foundations of the “second Yugoslavia” or SFRY were placed in Jajce between 29th and 30th of November of 1943, when the Second Assembly of AVNOJ took place.
Being a geographical center of Bosnia and Herzegovina, located on the road which from Sarajevo leads to Banja Luka and Bihać and further on towards Zagreb and Western Europe, with its wealth of historical and cultural heritage (30 sites are listed on National Monuments of BiH list including ancient wooden mills), its natural heritage (Pliva waterfall located in the middle of the town, surrounded by beautiful Pliva lakes), Jajce is truly a pearl of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The first ever Desant (Descent to) na Jajce Jajce took place in 2020 as an one-day event which was a part of Odmori u BiH (Holidays in BiH) initiative, and it has been continually growing enriching the cultural offer of Jajce.
